Miss TWA Contest 2012 - SEMI FINAL

I am very excited to be shortlisted among the 40 over entries for the Semi Final.

The Theme for this challenge is "Fantasy and Fairy".

One thing every society, culture and country on Earth has in common is a wealth of myths and legends going back to beyond human memory; the fairy stories and folk tales of our ancestors are the one thing that bind us all together as human beings, they are part of our collective consciousness and subconscious thoughts. They flood our young minds with imagination and creative thought and keep alive the idea of magic, something we all know is out there somewhere but more often than not choose to forget it.

It is not difficult to get a suitable outfit for this theme at The White Armory. If you have been to their store, you will know what I mean.

Thus, I thought for awhile, how to be unique so as to earn the judges' vote. I decided to work on the pose for the snap shot and using gimp to bring out the best in the outfit. This is my first attempt at using gimp to such extend. I am quite pleased with the effect though it gets me more excited about SL photography... It's going to be my next big hobby for the next few months. (^_^)

A picture paints a thousand words.

This little fairy prepares for a new magical day in her life clad in long flowy gown in blue and teal. She embraces the fresh summer air that fills her lung and she feels exhilarated. Fluttering her golden wings, she dances gracefully in the flora and fauna of the magical forest with no cares in the world and little creatures look on with admiration of her beauty in their eyes. All the animals love her, adore her and will do anything to make sure their little fairy stays in their life.

When I was there to pick an outfit for the stage 1 challenge, I was amazed by the quality of the outfits. There, you will find an whole range of Medieval apparels, swords, some vintage and modern chic wear. They have recently came out with their first Mesh outfit too... And my answers to the 2 questions that we have to answer.

QUESTION 1
Why do you want to be a model at The White Armory?
Answer:
I like The White Armory outfits and it is certainly a dream come true if I can model them and be able to bring out the best in everyone of them. To showcase our fantasy through fashion that tells a story.

QUESTION 2
What unique qualities do you have that you can bring to The White Armory modelling group?
Answer:
I think my av has a unique look itself. I have modelled for 9 months and have styled many different kinds of style and look. I like to bring a classic, yet creative talent to TWA modelling group.
I am trustworthy and has a respect for others, I hope to be the person that you will want to use over and over again.

Once, again, my picture is shortlisted among the 40 over entries for the Semi Final. Thank you judges! (^_^)

Stay tune!!!

Stand4Love

This is probably the first time that I am going to share a bit of my RL in this blog. I am brought up in a quite conservative family. My grandmother will probably faint when she knows that I support this Stand4Love campaign. Why do I say I have a quite conservative family? Well, my grandmother tries her best to impart her values to her children aka my father and my mother when she married into my father's family. However, I always remember my parents telling me this, " We brought you into this world so it's our responsibility to raise you up in a world as best as we can give you. However, it is your responsibility to live your own life as a happy adult."

It never occurs to me that among my RL friends, there are lesbians and gays. Yes, they are...lol. and come to think about it, they are fun to be with. They are my good friends and I will never want them to be unhappy. As people become more educated and more expressive of their thoughts and feelings, more are coming forth with their wants and needs. It is about time that the society that we live in change their mind set and paradigm about what marriage and love is all about. Marriage is between two consenting adults, regardless of gender, age and colour or nationality.

When Ai, my good friend and roommate, told me that she wanted to take part in this Stand4Love campaign, I suggested that we take a shoot together. We styled separately on each end of our land and when we came together for the shoot, I smiled as we have chosen to wear something similar. Causal outfits with the same colour; purple and green. She is a great photographer as you can see. I love the outcome of this poster very much. Thank you Ai. <333

To those who stand up for who you love, both rl and sl. I salute you. You are courageous and deserve to be loved. Remember...

"Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all..."

"I would rather have had one breath of her/his hair, one kiss from her/his mouth, one touch of her/his hand, than eternity without it. One. "

Help spread the message of Love, click on this link Stand4Love and send your entries to either RicoRacer Flux or Editorial Clarity before 15 July 2012.

We all have the right to love!

The only person you need to prove your love to is the person who feels the same about you.......

Two's a company at EVOLVE

I love love love lace. It's feminine, elegant and sexy. GLAM 2 from EVOLVE has it all... The tight lace bodice accentuates the feminine curves while the long flowy lacy sleeves enhance the luxury and details of the stunning most precious see through material.

An elegant lace dress that is sure to please both the steadfast traditionalists and up-to-the-minute trendsetters.

The next outfit VERY PRETTY from EVOLVE is the Fifty5 Linden Thursday Special.  I am wearing it with this super short hair from booN to create a modern working woman look.

Getting dressed for the office doesn't mean leaving your personal style behind. The plum satin blouse and the knee length A-line skirt add quality to a monotonous work wear. With a jacket, you are surely going to get all eyes on you the moment you walk into that meeting room or the tea party with your boss.

A sensual outfit for the woman who know her worth.

All the models at EVOLVE have to style and blog an outfit every month. When I first wore this ADORA gown, I fell in love with it immediately. I screamed... "I got to blog this". This bustier gown with a full skirt entirely covered with marvel of floating flexi-prims of luxurious organza silk is one of Reign Congrejo's best creations. One can't help but feel like a lady walking into a ballroom feeling all romantic and elegant.

For those who are in the mood for ballroom dancing and little romance with your man, you have to come down to EVOLVE now and get this gown. And did I tell you that it is only 55L for this week?

Colour of Couture ~ Week 3 Runway Challenge

We were told of our Week 3 Challenge last week.... and the

THEME: VINTAGE AMERICANA
Prim plaids, pastel checks, classic tablecloth ginghams. Small exposures of midriffs. Waistbands are high.   Cat eye sunglasses for a finishing touch.

I love the vintage...The era from the 1920s to the 1970s is the period where the ladies were classy and elegant. Many have styled Vintage before... and there are many styles and outfits to choose from... It took me a few days to find the perfect pieces together.... To add a touch of the modern flavour, I chose to wear a leather mesh skirt from R.icielli.

This is what I wore for the runway challenge yesterday...

What is SUCCESS?

I took a break today and went back to a nice book and a glass of ice Latte...while listening to some soothing music... I have been styling, taking pictures and blogging my experience in the Miss Colour of Couture Competition these 2 weeks.... and I see all the 16 finalists, including myself, working hard to showcase our hardwork..... Then, I ask myself... What is Success? How is it measured? What do we want to achieve at the end of all the hard work? Fame? A nice portfolio? Personal Satisfation? Experience? or...?

I read something in the book and want to share with all of you...Read it, think about it, sleep on it, act on it or simply laugh about it.... We all measure our SUCCESS in a different way, shaped by our cultures, values, upbringing and life experiences....

HOW TO SUCCESS:

"Push for success," said the Button.
"Never be led," said the Pencil.
"Take pains," said the Window.
"Always keep cool," said the Ice.
"Be up to date," said the Calendar.
"Never lose your head," said the Barrel.
"Make light of everything," said the Match.
"Do a driving business," said the Hammer.
"Aspire to do greater things," said the Nutmeg.
"Be sharp in all your dealings," said the Knife.
"Measure your progress," said the Ruler.
"Get together and stick to it," said the Glue.
"Be a bright spark," said the Lamp.
"Make light around you," said the Fire.

Though there are many ingredients to the road to success, the key is to focus on those that would work for us in our peculiar set of circumstances.... (^_^)

Colour of Couture ~ PRISM Surprise Challenge

In the first week, we were all given an outfit from PRISM to style in three days. "The photographer will contact you any time.." This was the instruction given to us upon receiving the outfit.

I was given the "Cindy in Dots", a yellow tank top and a colourful pokka dots mini skirt. A cute and very sporty outfit and images of Korean street wear came into my mind... I surf the net to get more information and inspiration..... These are what I have found.

Korean Fashion + Fob Style 스타일 ^^ Part 2 (Youtube)

It took me a day to put the look together and I love what I have done....

Colour Of Couture ~ Week Two Flickr Challenge

This is getting more and more interesting..... As soon as we are done with the first week challenge, we started to work on our Week Two Flickr Challenge.....

Theme: Afrocentric

Animal prints, particularly big cat spots...Scattered across flowing gowns and cocktail dresses not to mention stylish dress suits.

Images of animal prints, khaki green, black, darker shades of brown, huge hairs, chunky jewellery and bold make up flashed in my mind..... Many SL models have done this styling before.. it is easy to 'get inspiration' from them... BUT I want to take the risk and use some bright colours as a contrast to the usual colours.....Keeping in mind still of the Afrocentric Theme and yet to showcase the similar theme with a touch of influence of the Asian culture.

I looked into my inventory first as I have many outfits that are of the Afrocentric theme... I found several but decided on this awesome tights from EVOLVE.... I love the print of animals on it (not just the spots or strips). If you look closer, you will see a zebra, giraffe and tiger on it.

Next, I went around stores, to look for the perfect top to go with the tights. My styling is chic casual but definitely eye catching because of the bright yellow halter neck top from L'EXCEPTION and the jewellery from PAPER COUTURE and IVY. To complete the look, I found the perfect shoe from HOC which I can change the texture and a handbag from CALENS.

The weather is hot here whole year round. This outfit takes me from shopping in the day to a romantic date with that special someone in the night. If the weather gets colder, a fur coat will complement the overall look.
